Epic Games is shaking up the rules with its latest initiative — lifting lifetime bans on Fortnite players who were caught cheating more than a year ago. Referred to as the “Fortnite Unban Wave,” this marks a significant policy reversal for the developer, previously known for strict enforcement against any form of cheating.



This unban process applies only to players who used cheats and were banned over 12 months ago. Accounts involved in selling cheats or those banned for non-cheating violations will remain permanently restricted. Additionally, even those who are reinstated won’t be eligible for competitive modes, ensuring a controlled re-entry into the community.



The reaction within the Fortnite player base has been mixed. Some believe this move offers deserving players a new beginning, while others worry it may undermine the seriousness of previous penalties and lead to increased cheating risks.
